An introduction to the theory and practice of holography. Applications of holography in art, medicine, and technology. Computer simulation, design, and construction of holograms.
The university screwed over third and fourth years in my department by cancelling half the courses we need, but at least I can take a course on HOLOGRAMS as an elective. Because… it’s more important to fund, or something.
Other strong contenders: “Mathematics as Recreation”, “A Natural History of Sex and Sexual Health”, “Mathematical Personalities”, ”Mathematics and Poetry”, and my personal favourite, “Redefining Security Through Art”.
(Some of these could be quite interesting and great courses to take, but I’m a little pissed off that interdisciplinary electives like these got funded this year, and several core courses needed for our program and for 3rd- and 4th-year students to graduate on time got dropped. I’m not going to like, it’s pretty disappointing.
But on the bright side: how cool is it that we have a course on holograms?!)
